Menu Guru ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website menuguru.xyz and provides allergen-aware digital menu software to restaurants. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Who We Are

Menu Guru is a digital menu management platform that helps restaurants publish allergen-filtered menus online. Restaurants use our admin tools to manage their menus; guests use our public menu pages to browse dishes based on their dietary needs.

2. Information We Collect

From guests (public menu visitors)

When you browse a restaurant's menu on Menu Guru, you may select allergens to filter the dishes shown to you. We collect only:

• The allergens you select during your session
• Basic anonymous usage signals (e.g. which category you clicked, how long the page was open)
• Device type (mobile or desktop) for display optimisation

None of this information can be tied back to you personally. We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, or any other identifying information from public menu pages. Allergen selections are processed locally in your browser and are not linked to any account or persistent identifier.

From restaurant administrators

Restaurant owners and team members who log in to manage menus authenticate via Replit Auth (supporting Google, GitHub, and other providers). During this process we receive and store:

• Your name and email address (as provided by the authentication provider)
• A profile image URL (if provided by the authentication provider)

This information is used solely to identify you within the admin system, enforce access controls, and allow other restaurant owners to invite you as a collaborator.

3. How We Use Information

• To display allergen-filtered menus to guests
• To provide anonymous, aggregate analytics to restaurant owners (e.g. most-filtered allergens, busiest categories)
• To authenticate restaurant administrators and control access to menu management tools
• To allow restaurant owners to invite collaborators by email

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

Our public menu pages do not set any tracking or advertising cookies. We use a session cookie solely on the admin panel to keep restaurant administrators logged in. This cookie is essential for the admin system to function and is deleted when you log out or close your browser.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous guest analytics events are retained for up to 12 months and then automatically deleted. Administrator account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate our platform:

• Replit — hosting and authentication infrastructure
• PostgreSQL — database storage for restaurant and menu data

These providers are used solely to deliver the service and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

Menu Guru is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Menu Guru after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
